You can upload code with Arduino IDE.

Also remember for the ESP-01 to boot up and run at all, the EN / CH_PD pin must always be pulled HIGH (connected to 3.3V).
Don't forget everything is 3.3v. 5v will kill everything!
Use a 5V To 3.3V DC-DC Step Down Power Supply Buck Module AMS1117 if you power from 5v(USB)
